Our student-centered approach is validating, positive, humorous, helpful, friendly and encouraging. By integrating educational technology and strong communication skills, we cultivate healthy, long-term student-teacher relationships while continuously enriching the piano learning experience with fresh, engaging material each week. Practice is assigned with clear instructions aligned to each week’s focus goal and then thoroughly reviewed during the following lesson. For parents, we will always keep you updated on your child’s progress and provide additional practice support as needed. We are also always accessible through text or phone if you have any questions.

Additionally, we organize semi-annual piano recitals—one at Christmas and one towards the end of Spring—providing lots of preparation time to make sure that students are performance-ready and confident.

At Royale Piano, we are committed to transparency. We understand that progress is not always linear, so we prioritize keeping families informed with honest, prompt updates. Our approach involves highlighting each student’s strengths and the areas needing focus or improvement in their practice.

There are also never any hidden fees or surprise costs—EVER!

No registration fees, no upfront costs. Any necessary materials, such as lesson books or theory, will be recommended after the first lesson. Recitals are free!

We value your trust and are committed to outlining all costs upfront, providing clear explanations of any changes or additional services as needed. By prioritizing transparency in every aspect of our operations, Royale Piano ensures that families can rely on our dedication to their child's well-being and comprehensive music education.

Part of our teaching philosophy is that we believe teaching children is quite similar to caring for little plants. Every plant is unique and thrives under different conditions. Some need more guidance and encouragement, while other flourish with greater independence.

At Royale Piano, we are attentive to each student’s temperament and especially attuned when learning is taking place. We recognize that personal growth—whether in a child or an adult—happens at varying speeds and so we pace lessons in a way that provides the right balance of challenge and support.

Our goal is to create a calm, respectful learning environment filled with patience and acceptance, meeting students where they’re at and making sure every student leaves each lesson feeling more confident, valued, and capable — free to grow at their own rhythm.

ACTIVE, FOCUSED LISTENING

At Royale Piano, listening is not only our top priority, but also our greatest skill and the foundation of everything we do. Accurately painting a good sonic picture requires the strength of a well-trained ear that expertly listens. A skilled musician must also develop the aural skills that allows them to:

• Spatially isolate and identify sounds

• Recognize rhythmic patterns and subtle timing shifts

• Discern melodic shapes and harmonic relationships

• Understand and create functional harmonies by ear and by heart

These listening abilities go beyond notes and rhythm - they allow musicians to connect emotionally with the music, respond in real time, and express themselves with nuance and authenticity.
